Week 5 - Move to Snake Park

We were still in Arusha for Monday night and headed to the Maasai camp for dinner and had Mexican food yum yum! Some of us were not so lucky as they ran out of enchiladas and had to wait ages for other food to be cooked! not so good!

On Tuesday we left Arusha and headed to the snake park in Mesarani - our new home for the next four weeks - on arrival we set up our tents and headed to the bar for toasties and burgers yum yum!

Wednesday we headed down to the learning centre - It consists of for huts - one is the library, one is the computer room, one is the English room and at the back is the kids room! Myself and Ann Marie decided we would help out with maths classes - we sat in on a maths class in the afternoon with the kids and were really impressed as they were doing algebra and were really good at it!

Thursday I taught my first maths class - we were very unprepared as we thought we would just be helping but the teacher wanted us to actually teach! The topic was measurements so we started by teaching then about mm, cm, m and km it was all made slightly more difficult there English wasn't that good and they speak no Swahili! but we tried and we also taught them about perimeters and they seemed to understand what was going on! However by the next lesson on Friday they seemed to have forgotten it all and no one really seemed to have done their homework so we weren't overly impressed!
